AMAZINGLY UNBELIEVABLE STORY! Luz Reyes Luna, the author, emphasizes the value of a family. She shares her family's distressing story in her writing in a beautiful and honest way. Her unique writing style gives you the impression that you are actually following the family's journey. It's so unexpected how the plot developed in the end. This was an excellent read that got me thinking, feeling inspired, and reflecting on what I'm doing to make the best of my time on this planet. A fascinating book!

Amazing debut! A Good Story with a Twist. I can't believe this is the author's first book. The book has taken me on a breathless journey from one episode to another, convincing me at the end that sometimes the truth can be stranger than fiction. My heart cries out to the once beautiful family where the loving family relations have gone to pieces. No worldly possession should ever prevail over LOVE that binds the members of the family to one another. After all, it is love that one brings with him and leaves everything behind when he graduates from this earthly life. To the author, my appreciation and gratitude for bravely and unselfishly sharing her own personal and family experiences in her picturesque and vivid narration, which leaves her readers on a wider horizon.

A Good Read on a Heartbreaking Family Conflict. This is the most heart touching story I have read. Each episode was described so vividly that I felt I was witnessing it before my eyes. It was an honest story of a close-knit family but because betrayal and deceit by one family member, unity have been crushed. The author was undoubtedly brave and humble enough to share this amazing true story of her family.

SHOCKING BUT TRUE! The Deception Within - A Loving Family Shattered, is a story that holds your interest and makes you shake your head in disbelief. The writer opens your eyes to the deceit and lies taking place within her own family—maybe just like your own family! Sadly, this scenario seems all too common today. People looking out for ONLY themselves with the mindset and heart to take all they can get regardless of anyone else—even if it means death to someone else. It’s especially heartbreaking when it’s family that is involved. You will love this book but walk away from reading it hoping that karma comes knocking on some doors fast!

Greed, corruption and lies have pitted siblings against each other in the dusk of their lives! Not your typical story which makes it interesting in a different way. It is incredibly sad that after all the siblings' decades together, in the dusk of their lives, obvious greed, and corruption have split the family into a million pieces that has affected the next generation.  Pride, lies, greed and blatant corruption may be too much to overcome in the dusk of their lives.

Great Read!   An emotional and sweeping tail set against the backdrop of World War II. Rich detail, compelling characters, and an interwoven dual timeline make this an engrossing read. This rich, memorable, true story unfolds beautifully from start to finish.

Captivating But a Devastating Story   The Deception Within is a really intriguing story that captured my attention from start to finish. I don't read much, but this one truly grabbed my attention. With how much love, support, and trust the Reyes family received growing up, the conclusion comes as a complete surprise. They learned the same values that Crispin and Remedios taught their children—to always love one another, love God above all and trust in Him, but what happens in the end, was unexpected. They were the envy of everyone with such an ideal family, until... How were they broken by greed, envy, and jealousy given that they were raised to be God-fearing individuals. What the antagonist did to her 90-year-old father until he passed away at age 103 is the story's most devastating scene. It is unbelievable and most heartbreaking. I applaud the author for having the guts to tell the world about her real-life experience. This story contains lessons that everyone could learn from. Everyone should read this.

Dysfunctional Despair   As somebody who ‘divorced’ two out of three sisters, and then was inexplicably ‘divorced’ by the one with whom I thought I got on, I can identify with this story of a once-loving family turned dysfunctional in the extreme. The issues of my own family—where there was no money or property to be inherited—pale into insignificance however, when set against those of the family in the book. Given how the parents, Crispin and Remedios, dragged themselves up from humble beginnings, working hard to provide both spiritually and materially for their eight children, it’s difficult to imagine how it could have gone so wrong. Author Luz Reyes Luna writes in a factual style, with brutal honesty and no attempt to embellish or sanitise this account of how her own family was torn apart by sibling greed and jealousy. It’s brave in the extreme of her to put herself out there, and I can only salute her efforts.

UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE! I cannot put this book down so I stayed up all night and finished reading it. I cannot imagine how a quiet, religious woman can do such horrible things to her aging father and break up a loving family. I guess in almost every family there's one like her. You will keep thinking and wondering even after you finish reading the book.

Captivating! Reading the blurb of The Deception Within: A Loving Family Shattered grabbed my attention. So, our family bought this book for everyone to read. It is an interesting read that captured my attention from start to finish. The author did a wonderful job describing detailed timelines and interesting characters. I was in shock at how the story ended. It added an intriguing twist to the plot, especially because the antagonist was ‘saintly’ as they say. This is a must-read. A story that will give readers a lasting impression and will provoke them to ask, what went wrong to such a loving family?
